2000 WTBA Winter Mixed Sale
at Emerald Downs Up 5%

Auburn, WA -- The Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association held their Winter Mixed Sale at the Morris J. Alhadeff Sales Pavillion at Emerald Downs on Sunday, December 3, selling 257 Thoroughbreds for $1,122,650, averaging $4,368, up 5% from last year’s auction.

Topping the 9-hour session was Kist By the Sun, a yearling filly by Son of Briartic-Orphan Kist sold by Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Pabst's Blue Ribbon Farm to Rodger Lam of Burnaby, British Columbia, for $40,000. The filly is by seven-time leading Washington sire out of a $631,997 stakes winner. The highest priced colt was a yearling by Basket Weave-Alota Glitter sold by Ron and Nina Hagen's El Dorado Farms to northern California trainer Jeff Bonde for $37,000. Yearlings averaged $6,121, up 10% from last year.

The sale offered weanlings, broodmares, horses of racing age and stallions as well as the popular yearlings.
